A parishioner, Lars of Kokemäki, angrily asked Johannes why he had done this. Johannes patiently listened to his harsh words without responding, and left. After supper that day, when Johannes – carrying no weapons, since he did not suspect anything – was on his way to a certain house, Lars followed him. On the way back Lars suddenly came up to him, and Johannes calmly told him to not stand in his way. But Lars would not calm down. Instead, he called Johannes the devil’s priest and tried to attack him with a wooden object. Johannes took hold of an axe and hit Lars lightly in the arm with its reverse side, not to kill him but only to repel his fury. In fury, Lars rushed at Johannes and hurt himself in the head on the axe. He died the next day from this wound. Johannes requests to be absolved from any charge of homicide and to be dispensed, so that he may minister and receive an ecclesiastical office without the cure of souls. Other people intervened and separated the two assailants, who made their peace. Jakob begged Thomas’s forgiveness, which was granted, and he took up his previous work again. He worked for three weeks as before and said that he had no trouble with his finger. Then his right hand became swollen, probably because of neglect, and an incompetent doctor cut up the hand from inside and out. At the moment of his death, Jakob himself claimed in front of witnesses that this cut was the reason for his death, excusing Thomas from any responsibility. This servant had armed himself one night and followed Henningus and waited for him. When he could not get hold of Henningus, he found one of his servants the following day and hit him instead. When Henningus asked him why he had done this, the servant answered him in insulting words and grasped a mace with the intention of hitting Henningus. Some bystanders, however, stopped him, and he dropped the mace but took hold of his crossbow. Again, the bystanders stopped him from attacking Henningus and took the crossbow away from him. Other weapons were shown on all sides. Then Henningus fled to a house, but he could not open the doors. He then ran towards his carriage, where he found an axe that he could defend himself with. But his enemy came running and took an axe from another carriage, ran towards the Henningus with the intention of hurting and killing him. He then raised the axe and tried to hit him. Fearing his own death, and with no other way to escape, Henningus met the blow from his attacker with an axe-blow on his head. A few days later, this servant died. The regent Julianus, bishop of Bertinoro, refers the case to (the auditor) Franciscus Brevius for inspection, and commissions the diocesan bishop to declare Henningus innocent and not irregular or disqualified, on condition that it can be established that he acted in self-defence. |

One day Olavus entered his cellar and saw that the beer had been stolen. He informed his chaplain Stephanus and asked him to make inquiries about the theft. Stephanus then remembered seeing Katarina, the wife of Peter, one of Olavus’s servants, carrying a vessel of beer from the cellar, and he told Olavus this. When Katarina’s husband learned that Stephanus had reprimanded her, he became resentful and decided to provoke discord between Olavus and Stephanus. One Sunday, at the hour of Vespers, Stephanus asked for Olavus and was told by the housemaid that he had gone to bed. Stephanus found it strange that Olavus had gone to bed at this time, without having said Vespers or without supper, but asked the maid to give him a drink, before he himself went to bed. The maid brought him a drink. At the same time Olavus appeared. He slapped the maid on the face and said to Stephanus: “What are you doing? Do you want me to toast you to hell?!” He then tried to attack him with a sword that he grabbed from a young servant, Henrik. The unarmed Stephanus tried to escape the furious Olavus, who, along with his servant, followed him with drawn sword as if to kill him. Stephanus pleaded for mercy, took hold of the point of the sword with his hand and was seriously wounded. Seeing no other way to escape, Stephanus took out a small knife and struck Olavus in his left side. Olavus died from the blow the next day. Stephanus then tried to escape the furious servant Peter, who was hitting him on the back and head with his sword, and he hit him on the shoulder with the knife. Peter died from the wound. The regent Julianus, bishop of Bertinoro, refers the case to (the auditor) Dominicus de Jacobatiis for inspection, and commissions the diocesan bishop to declare Stephanus innocent and not irregular or disqualified, on condition that it can be established that the facts above are true. |

Peter drew his sword and hit and injured Laurentius, who took the sword from him and threw it likewise on the floor. Holding each other by the hair, they were finally separated by the bystanders. But Peter ran to arm himself with the intention of attacking and injuring Laurentius, who also took up arms, seeing that he was in danger. The two of them started to fight with their swords, but when he saw another layman with a shovel in his hands and feared that he might be injured by him, Laurentius tried to escape. Peter then ran fiercely towards him, and in self-defence Laurentius hit him once in the chest with the sword and thus caused his death.
